What to Bring

  • If rafting in the cooler months- Warm clothes for the end of the day, 2 towels, sun screen, a beanie and a bottle of water. If you have your own thermal underwear (Not cotton) you may bring it along to wear under raft gear or you can just wear your underwear or swimmers.
  • If rafting in the warmer months- Warm clothes for the end of the day, 2 towels, sun screen, a hat, a t-shirt and long shorts/boardies in case its too hot to wear a wetsuit and a bottle of water.
  • Medication if required.
  • Glasses strap if required.
  • Remember to pack light if you don’t need it don’t bring it!
  • All other Rafting equipment is supplied and includes- Wetsuit, fleece jumper, splash jacket, wet boots and if necessary- gloves and spare beanies.


  • 8.30am - Meet at the rafting base, 993 Benambra Corryong Rd, Hinnomunjie
  • 8.40am - Safety Briefing
  • 9.00am - Change into river gear
  • 9.30am - Travel to River
  • 10.30am - Lesson on how to paddle then start river journey
  • 12.00pm - Lunch on the riverbank
  • 1.00pm - Continue journey
  • 3.30pm - Finish journey, and return to Raft Base
  • 4.00pm - Change and check out photos

Tour Times

  • Tours depart from the meeting point, 993 Benambra Corryong Rd, Hinnomunjie at 8.30am and return at 4pm. Please note this is a self-drive tour, so you will need to make your own way to the rafting meeting point, approximately 4.5 hours from the Melbourne CBD. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation tour voucher with complete tour operator details. You will be required to contact the tour operator a minimum of 48hrs prior to your day of travel to reconfirm your tour and the tour departure point

What will be required of you?

  • Eat well prior to and during the trip especially breakfast
  • Not to over indulge in alcohol the night before the trip, or during the trip, we expect that participants who feel they have blood alcohol content above .05 or are drug affected will voluntarily stand down from the trip
  • Notify the trip leader of any medical conditions and or medical emergency plans before you leave the raft base
  • To read and sign an assumption of risk signature form
  • Physical Exertion to which you may not be accustomed

Driving Directions

Melbourne to Mitta River via Princess Highway:

Travel from Melbourne to Bairnsdale via the Princess Highway. Turn left after travelling through Bairnsdale on to the Omeo Highway B500, to Omeo. Drivers should fill their vehicles with fuel at Bairnsdale before leaving the Princess Highway.

Directions from Melbourne via the Hume Fway:

Travelling north and passing Seymour and Benalla. Just past the Glenrowan Mc Donald’s/BP service station, veer left off Hume Freeway (approximately 400m past BP) and turn right on to the “snow road”. (You should get fuel at the BP service station on the Hume as most of the small town’s stations will not be open late) Travel via snow road C522 through Oxley, Milawa, turning right on to the Great Alpine Road B500 via Myrtleford, Bright, Harrietville, Mt Hotham to Omeo. Travelling time from the western ring road to Bright is 3 hours; Mt Hotham is an hour from Bright depending on road conditions. Omeo is 40 min from Mt Hotham. (Chains required for Mt Hotham, check conditions before leaving Melbourne, travel via Bairnsdale if conditions are poor. Don’t travel via Mt Hotham in winter unless you have had snow driving experience!)

Directions to Raft Base from Omeo Post Office:

Travel North on Day Ave which leads onto the Omeo Highway C 543 towards the townships of Mitta Mitta and Tallangatta for 2.6km (NOT TOWARDS MT HOTHAM OR BAIRNSDALE) Turn right towards Benambra on the Benambra Corryong Road. Follow this road for 9km and you will reach the township of Hinnomunjie. The raft base is the first house on the left side after crossing Reedy Creek. The address is 993 Benambra Corryong Road, Hinnomunjie. You will see red rafts at the front of the property, please park either side of the property to allow our Busses to exit. DO NOT DRIVE TO HINNOMUNJIE BRIDGE!!! Distance 13.7km, Time 15 Min.

Cancellation Policy

If cancellation occurs within 21 days of your booked trip a 50% deposit will be retained, we will, however, endeavor to provide you with another trip on a mutually suitable date if you wish to participate. Rebooking will incur a 10% re-booking fee. If cancellation occurs seven days prior to the booked trip, 100% of the trip cost will be charged, this includes late arrival on the date of your trip. As our river experiences are offered in the outdoors we are subject to environmental changes, if these changes result in excess or insufficient water for our craft to safely negotiate the river the raft type or the location of the trip may be altered or your trip may be rescheduled. Deposits will not be refunded in this situation, as you will be offered the choice of a trip on another river or on the same river on another date.

Booking Information

  • Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
  • For your information, complete Tour Operator Information including contact details is included on your tour voucher
  • The tour operator will email you directly after the fact with an itinerary, important information and "how to get there" information
  • It is CRUCIAL that you touch base directly with the operator at least 72 hours to one week prior to discuss important information prior, otherwise the trip may be cancelled should there be no direct contact. This is imperative to ensure your safety and for you to understand the wilderness experience you are about to undertake
This is one of Victoria's only options for whitewater rafting; you'll need to make your own way to Hinnomunjie and commit a full day, so be sure to sleep well the night before!
